From LoveToKnow Cars
Most Honda Odyssey reviews usually state that it is one of the most popular minivans on the market today. With its 244 hp, 3.5 liter, V6 engine and seating for seven in the LX model, and eight in the EX and Touring models, it’s easy to see why.

Consumer Reviews
Minivan owners love their vehicles and once they find the make and model they like, they usually stick with that model over and over again at trade-in time. Autobytel featured some great consumer reviews for the Honda Odyssey. Consumers who reviewed the minivan considered categories that included overall comfort, performance, quality, and appearance. Here’s what some of them had to say:
- Jacksonville, North Carolina – This reviewer gave the Odyssey five stars in all categories for the EX model. The only options this consumer wished for were Stow and Go seats like the Chrysler Town & Country and better quality interior leather.
- Galloway, New Jersey – Power and resale value were the favorites for this consumer who reviewed the EX model. A former Toyota Sienna owner, this review pointed out that while many feel the Odyssey is an expensive minivan, they start at around $25,500 and at 60,000 miles, still run strong.
- St. Augustine, Florida – Only four stars were given in the comfort and appearance categories from this reviewer for the EX-L model. Brakes and wind noise were a concern for this owner.
- Devon, Pennsylvania – After owning Toyota Sienna, this reviewer purchased the Honda Odyssey Touring edition. Touring editions are often less expensive than other models and this owner felt the eighteen combined gas mileage promised from Honda was incorrect, claiming only fourteen miles per gallon were achieved.
Expert Reviews
Experts who reviewed the Odyssey were concerned with performance, styling, quality, features, and safety.
- Yahoo Autos gave the Odyssey an 8.4 out of a possible ten for every model of the Odyssey. It’s noteworthy here to point out that experts love the safety of this minivan, giving it a rating of ten! As far as fuel efficiency, experts gave kudos to its cylinder deactivation technology that shuts down half of the cylinders at cruising speed saving on energy and fuel. The performance of the V6 engine in both the LX, EX, and Touring models was "surprisingly powerful." Experts also like the tight turning radius, responsive steering, and athletic tuning. It offered a bumpier ride on rough roads but the braking ability was excellent, even in the eight-passenger model. Expert reviewers who contributed to Yahoo Auto reviews were from Edmunds, Consumer Guide, and Autoblog.

Tips for Buying a Honda Odyssey
- Make sure you visit more than one dealer whether you are purchasing a new or used Honda Odyssey, compare prices and use our car buying strategy guide.
- Test-drive all the Odyssey models to see which one best meets your family’s needs.
- Visit Edmunds to find out about the latest rebates and incentives Honda is offering before you visit the dealership.
- If a used Odyssey is your choice, visit CarFax and for $29.95 you can get a vehicle history report that includes previous owner information, warranty repair work completed, and accident history.
- Don’t automatically believe that financing at the dealership is your best bet. If you don’t like the interest rate they offer you, ask for a buyer’s order and take it to your bank or credit union.
All in all, Honda Odyssey reviews are favorable. It has been twenty-five years since Chrysler’s Lee Iacocca introduced the minivan to families everywhere and since then, the Honda Odyssey remains at or near the top of the list in each review it receives.
